As of late, the kid had taken to spending more time outside, particularly during the times he might have hung out in the library. He'd popped in quickly to grab a book - a biography of Martin Luther King Jr - but had headed outside immediately after, boots crunching on the thin, sparse layer of snow. The teen didn't really want to be around anyone, not even the newbies that hadn't done anything to him. Well, he didn't have any problems with them, they were probably all nice. He was just in a dark state of mind and in one of his especially asocial moods. He climbed easily into a tree, settling in among the branches to read, content and convinced that no one would bother him.

"you know, reading puts your guard down.. which is never good." he called.

He felt like rolling his eyes. Did he know how to hunt? Ok, maybe he hadn't felt as obligated to do it for anyone else lately, but hunting was his thing. It had been one of the biggest ways he contributed to the Lodge and he'd been one of the only ones doing it so... yeah. "Hunting's what I'm good at." Of all of his skills, that was probably the one that was most developed.

I'm learning about the past - what's that saying, those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it?" Besides, even if he wanted to go hunting, he wasn't equipped to do so. He didn't carry around his borrowed rifle when he wasn't using it, and there was no point in bringing his ammo if he didn't have a gun.
