The Lakefort Factory, owned under a manufacturing company of the same name, was once used for the production of fine goods, like textiles and cookware. However, it largely fell out of use after wartimes, where it drew most of its profit. It was outdated in comparison to other facilities, but this proved useful after the events of the blackout. The factory remained functional, due to having steam engines powered by coal and wood. There is much debate as to whether the residents of the Lakefort Factory were workers of the facility or simply stumbled upon it within the chaos of the black out. Either way, they're here now.
As part of their culture, work ethic is very important. Almost all of the citizens of Lakefort are skilled in mechanical engineering of some kind. However, due to the machinery they surround themselves with, many can develop hearing loss and respiratory issues, if in charge of fueling the furnaces. This doesn't stop them from working, as the Lakeforters depend on their production of goods for bargaining resources. The area around the factory is infertile for crops and most members lack hunting or agricultural knowledge. One unique thing about the residents of the Lakefort Factory is their dialect. Being a mix of working class natives and immigrants, it is not common of a citizen to speak two or more languages. Besides this, their English is peppered with international terms. ex. "Oh piccolo, stay out of there, bitte. Merci."
(This was long, but if anyone is interested in expanding on this and joining the group, I would be flattered.)
