[div style="width:490px; margin-top:5px; text-align:justify; font-family: times; font-size:11px; color: #666666"]nerves were getting the best of him. it was odd, and it was completely foreign because mick didn’t even [i]know he could be nervous to be in someone else’s company. it made it even worse that, right when he thought his nerves had eased - he had the dad’s approval, after all - the sight of his date caused it all to come surging right back. he could’ve swore he was going to melt into a puddle on the floor right then and there. hadn’t anyone told ellie to take it easy on soft hearts? sure, his friends had made fun of him for trying to date someone that was still in high school - but if they saw how beautiful she was, how sweet she was, then they’d be immediately jealous of mick.
daisies were one of her favorite flowers. the dark-haired male saved that as a quick mental note for later, finding everything she said just easing his nerves. so far, mick - one, friends - zero. as they walked over towards the car, he opened the car door for her before closing it, climbing in on the other side. was this all actually happening? this had to be some sort of dream. his gaze wandered over towards the passenger seat as she complimented the cologne, feeling a smile come to his lips at the words. [b]“thank you.†okay, mick - one, friends - one. “you really do look so beautiful, ellie. breathtaking.†it was hard to tell her anything besides that. she deserved to feel as gorgeous as she looked in that moment, she really did. he met her gaze for a moment as he started the car, only turning away when he put the car in drive and drove away from the house.
“bunny?†the first word to come out of his mouth at the other’s question. “that’s a cute one.†he couldn’t help but grin at the nickname, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel as he replied, “you’ll see when we get there.†now, he was really just getting her hopes up too high, wasn’t he? ice skating wasn’t the most romantic first date in the world; however, as much as his friends tried to insist that everyone went to a dinner for their first date, he really detested the thought. ellie deserved the best, and the best table at some expensive restaurant really didn’t seem worthy of her. so instead, off to ice skating. hopefully she didn’t.. hate ice skating. mick would be the definition of embarrassed if that was the case.
as they slowed to a stop, parking the car, mick hopped out with a nervous smile on his features as he strode over and opened ellie’s door. “i thought it’d be fun to go ice skating,†he murmured, feeling so nervous as he said it. as they walked to the rink, he couldn’t help but briefly marvel at how pretty it was. sure, it wasn’t rockefeller plaza by any means, but it was still beautiful. a nice date to have during winter. “have you ever ice skated before, pumpkin?†he asked as they neared it, adding, “if not, it’s not too hard to get used to. i’m sure you’ll be a natural.â€Â

As if Ellie wasn't nervous enough, the butterflies were now in a flurry in the pit of her stomach. This was quite possibly one of the first dates that she could actually call a proper date, and Mick was doing a hell of a good job at impressing her right off the bat. He was such a gentleman, and the very fact that her dad seemed more than happy to allow her to get into the car with him was proof that Mick was already becoming happily accepted by the Rose family. Ellie sat back in her seat, fiddling at the seam of her shirt as she watched out the car window. This was honestly a dream come true, and screw trying to play hard to get; Ellie was totally head over heels for this perfect being, and he needed to know that.
"Thank you." She coyly responded, face lighting up from the sweetest compliment she'd received yet, in her opinion. He wasn't calling her hot or good-looking... She was beautiful in his eyes, and she'd never felt so adored. Eyes flitted over to glance at Mick, a small smile growing on her lips as she studied his features. He was... Perfect. She had a good feeling about this Mick...
She pulled a face of amusement as he then commented on the new nickname she'd thought of for him. Laughing under her breath, she raised her eyebrows and nodded shortly, glancing out the window. "Yeah, thought of it last night... Don't laugh at me." She turned her gaze to him, laughing again. "When I was a kid, I used to have this bunny rabbit plush toy that I'd bring everywhere. I just thought it was so cute and I loved it so, so much, so I began to call things I found sweet 'Bunny'... Before you, I used to call my old cat, Fidget, Bunny so... Sorry." She grinned with amusement. But, hopefully Mick got the hint - she wasn't naming him after her cat, she was naming him because to her it meant she was really into him. It was... Somewhat fitting.
"Oh, I love surprises." She commented, pursing her lips before adding, "Can I try to guess?... I say... Bowling? No, a movie... No wait... I... Miniature golf?" She squinted her eyes over at Mick, trying her very hardest to guess based on his reaction. Honestly, though she tried guessing, she sort of hoped that she'd not ruin the surprise. After all, it was exciting to see what Mick had in store for them. She bet it'd be amazing. Mick had never failed to amaze her.
As the pair of them climbed out of the car, she glanced up at the sign which said 'Ice Rink' and her eyes lit up. She turned her head to look over at Mick, smile plastered on her lips before exclaiming, "Oh my God, I can't wait." She bit down on her lip, walking beside her date as she glanced around curiously. She'd never ice skated before but, after watching all those ice skating films, it was something she had always dreamed of trying out. She thought that she'd maybe be pretty good at skating... "Can you believe it? I've never skated before, but I've wanted to try for the longest time." She walked alongside Mick towards the counter to pay for admission. "I hope you're a good teacher. You're gonna have to show me how to skate."

[div style="width:490px; margin-top:5px; text-align:justify; font-family: times; font-size:11px; color: #666666"]taking someone out on a date was foreign territory to mick. [i]“don’t think it’ll be as magical as it is in the movies…†his friends were proved wrong already. it felt like something straight out of a movie, butterflies in his stomach and the only thing that made the feeling bearable was that darling smile. the way ellie’s face had lit up at the compliment, responding in a coy manner… she hadn’t been told by enough people yet just how beautiful she was. if she stuck around with mick, then she’d get showered with compliments every single day. why? because she deserved those kind words. she deserved to have all the confidence in the world.
his heart just… yearned for her, and in the most innocent way he could describe it. lust was the last thing on his mind in that moment. it was just a pure, innocent puppy love, and he couldn’t get enough of it. he could feel her looking over at him, watching him. and for a moment, mickey wondered what on earth she was doing wasting her time with someone like him.
after deciding that nobody was good enough for her, nobody was worthy of her attention, he decided he couldn’t be the worst choice for her. he couldn’t help but softly laugh at the other’s words, shaking his head. [b]“alright, pumpkin. i did say you could call me whatever you wanted, didn’t i?†pumpkin. the nickname came so easily to him for her, and he didn't know why. it was different than other pet names, like “babe†and “baby.†it was… just their pet name, and it was what made it the best out there. “that’s really sweet,†he murmured after a moment, glancing at her from the corner of his eyes, lips twitching upwards, fighting a grin, before his gaze was back on the road. things she found sweet were ‘bunny.’ that meant more to him than any other nickname he’d been called, yet.
a smirk couldn’t help but pull at his lips as she talked, sending a sly look her way before saying, dramatically, “no way. this is even better.†though, any of those options sounded like a lot of fun. more fun than going out somewhere to eat. he’d never really been one for dinner dates- even though, with ellie, he was fine with silences. they were easy, comfortable silences… how many people could be comfortable in peaceful quiet with another person?
her reaction had been better than he’d expected. “you’ve never skated before?†he asked, stepping over to buy their tickets and skates, thanking the worker before turning to head to the rink. laughing softly, he stepped over to one of the benches to throw the skates on. “don’t worry, i’ll be the best teacher you can get. not that that’s saying much.†really, the skating rink was just absolutely beautiful, and he couldn’t think of anywhere better to take ellie for their first date. standing up, he made his way to an entry door, making sure ellie was ready to go.
â€Âit’s not too hard once you get the hang of it,†he assured, stepping out onto the ice. “here,†he offered out his hand, trying to ignore the butterflies that were going crazy in his stomach. “you can hold onto the railing, too.†probably more sturdy of an object to rely on than just his hand.

Ellie was pretty sure that she'd never felt so elated in a long time. Sure, life had been treating her well, but now that Mick was in the picture she felt as if she was being spoiled. She flitted her gaze over to the dark-haired man whilst he drove. She was so lucky. She tried to conceal the grin creeping on she lips as she watched Mickey shake his head with amusement. Wow - he was so cute. "Yep... So I really hope you like the name Bunny." And then, she turned to gaze out of the window, finally beginning to grin like an idiot to herself as she watched the world go by. It wasn't long before he made another comment, one which she could not conceal her delight over. Turning to glance back at Mick, she couldn't help but notice a smile that she'd not yet seen on Mick's lips to date. And, it was... So nice to see.
She cocked an eyebrow over at the man, clearly entertained, as he managed to keep the secret. Honestly, Ellie was dying with anticipation. She'd not been on many dates in her time, and so she didn't quite know what to expect. But, with somebody as perfect and gentlemanly as Mickey, she could only assume he'd really put some thought into it. That would be such a compliment to her. "Oh really?" She questioned, emphasizing the latter word before giggling to herself. Genuinely, she couldn't wait to see what he had in store for her. She bet that it was going to be good...
And, Mickey didn't disappoint.
Eyes widened with a pleasant surprise, her face lit up with enthusiasm as she figured out what their plans would be for the day. She'd never even been on the ice before, and so she never would have guessed that he'd do something like this for her. "I haven't!" She exclaimed, smiling excitedly over at him before collecting her skates from the counter and walking beside him to a bench. Eyes flitting over every once in a while to observe how Mick was putting the skates on, she finally pulled herself onto her feet, wobbling at the unfamiliar sensation. "Feels like I'm walking on a tightrope." She pointed out, lowering her gaze down to the navy skates before following alongside her date.
Then, it was time to step onto the ice. Her green eyes peered down at the hand offered to her, and her heart felt as if it had skipped a beat as she reached out and held onto his hand. Their hands felt as if they had fit together like two puzzle pieces. They were meant to be held together. With uncertainty, she stepped into the rink, legs wobbling like a newborn fawn at the strange sensation of balancing on the ice. "Woah-" She began to laugh to herself, using her free hand to grasp onto the railing. "This is so weird. I love it." She tried to slide her skates across the ice, slowly but surely, before commenting with amusement, "So, teacher, lets take a bet on how many times I'm gonna fall over today. I say... Four times."

[div style="width:490px; margin-top:5px; text-align:justify; font-family: times; font-size:11px; color: #666666"]mickey felt like [i]he was the one being spoiled. sure, being the only child in a rich family meant being spoiled throughout the years- but he’d never really been spoiled with company. just ellie sitting in the car while he drove felt like he was being spoiled, because ellie could be with any other guy in the world right now. she was the most beautiful person he’d ever seen, with the most beautiful soul… any guy would be lucky to have seconds to talk with her- but getting to take her on a date? oh, mick felt way too spoiled, and it really wasn’t helping his ego. [b]“love it,†he replied shortly, glancing over at the blond as she gazed out the window. her grin was reflected in the window, and for a moment, mickey was surprised he hadn’t gotten them into a crash yet. he just couldn’t keep his eyes off of her.
she seemed to be happy with the date idea. that was just another plus to mick, another boost to his ego- but he was managing to keep it all internalized. he’d go home and ramble about it to his roommate later, but that was perhaps as far as he’d go with it. as she stood up, wobbly on her feet, mick rested a hand on her back to try and help her catch her balance. “walking on a tightrope?†he laughed, walking alongside her towards the rink. “let's save that for another date.†he was kidding, obviously, but even hinting at another date with ellie was enough for a warmth to form in his chest.
mickey usually wasn’t the gushy type, but ever since ellie had come into his life, he had been lovey-dovey and gushy nonstop. all of those sappy feelings and thoughts came back to the surface as she held onto his hand, trying to ignore just how right it felt to have her hand in his. giving a reassuring squeeze, he couldn’t help but softly laugh with her as she grasped onto the railing. “you know what? i have faith in you. i say…†humming to himself in thought, he gazed up at the sky. “two times.†he had faith in her, but not complete faith.
he watched as she slid across the ice, adding, “see? you’re a natural.†it was a bit later in the day, so there wasn’t a particularly large crowd out skating- which was nice, mickey supposed. it made for a great experience, he supposed. “how about we go one lap with the railing and then after that you’re on your own? well. you’ll still have me, just don’t rely on me to keep you up.†if ellie fell down, then mick would probably end up falling with her at this rate. gently gliding along beside ellie, he asked, “what do you think so far? having fun?â€Â

As Ellie stepped out onto the ice, her legs wobbled with uncertainty, the slippery ice beneath her providing no traction. But, she had Mick - Mick was there to keep her from falling. Her heart felt as if it skipped a beat at the suggestion of a second date. Honestly? They'd barely begun their first date, yet Ellie would happily accept a second date from him in a split second. After all, they seemed to get on together perfectly, like two puzzle pieces that just fit together. If he were to ask her now, it'd be likely that she'd say yes. Pastel eyes peered up at the dark haired beauty, her rosy lips curling up at the corners before she began to laugh softly. "I'm on the ice." She pointed out in awe, honestly surprised that she actually managed to keep on her feet for this long. She tended to be a little awkward and clumsy sometimes, and so it wouldn't have been a surprise to her if she were to slip.
As Mick rested his hand on her lower back as she slowly shuffled across the ice, the hand that wasn't holding Mick's hand was kept outstretched as if that would keep herself balanced. But, despite this attempt, the slightest of wobbles was enough to have Ellie clutch onto the railing suddenly, grinning over at Mick playfully. "Oh, glad to see you have faith in me." She chimed jokingly, tightening her grip on his hand ever-so-slightly more as she concentrated on moving onward. Ellie had a coy nature, a nature which held her back from achieving a lot in her life. Yet, Mick made her feel safe. Safe to talk without anxiety riddling her soul. With Mick, she felt as if she could be herself. With Mick, she felt as if that was what he adored about her. She knew that she was falling for the older man bit by bit. She'd begun to think about him without even trying.
Maybe they were meant to be. Ellie liked to believe in 'Love at First Sight'. There was a reason they seemed to click. After all, two souls can't find each other by accident. Ellie nodded at Mickey's next words - Right, no railing after the next lap. "If I'm falling, you're falling with me." She teased, holding onto his hand a little bit tighter to prove her point before laughing. Good luck, Mickey. "This is the most fun I've had in ages." She was enthusiastic as she said so, pressing his lips together to form a tight line as she smiled a closed-lip smile. "I say we need to come back here someday. It'd be fun."
As they went around the lap, Ellie scrunched her nose up, turning her head to look at Mick before she announced, "Here we go. No railing." And then, she let go. "Oh my God, I'm actually doing it." She gasped before- the tip of the blade dug into the ice, causing her to stumble over. She squeaked with surprise, though managed to miraculously stay on her feet. Pulling a face dramatically, she whipped her head to look at Mick before bursting out in a fit of laughter. "That was almost one of two falls!" She exclaimed loudly.

|
something about ellie was just so.. breathtaking. sure, her looks alone were enough to leave mick feeling like he should be gasping for air-- but there was just something about her, beyond her beauty, that never failed to take his breath away. he laughed softly as she pointed out, awestruck, that she was on the ice. [b]“yeah, you’re on the ice,†he repeated, feeling his lips begin to pull into a smile as she shuffled across the ice with him. “and you haven’t fallen yet, so that’s a good start.†getting on the ice was arguably one of the hard parts; the more they skated, the better she’d get at skating, mick supposed. they moved slowly along the rail, ellie quick to grasp onto it at every small loss of balance. “i have more faith in you than you seem to. that has to count for something,†he pointed out as they slid along, giving a gentle squeeze of her hand every so often.
“if i’m falling, you’re falling with me.â€Â
his eyes locked onto hers, feeling his lips fighting a full-on grin before he added softly, all-too confidently, “i already fell.†falling for ellie... well, that was easy. anybody who ever looked at her or spent some time with her would easily fall. but mick was completely gone. he had fallen and he hadn’t picked himself back up yet, because he wanted to keep falling for her. he held her gaze for a moment before turning his gaze away, feeling the lightest touch of rose dust his cheeks. he’d become so cheesy, but with ellie, something told him that she deserved to be constantly reminded of how much he’d fallen for her. he’d be sure she knew of it at all times, if she stuck around. her enthusiasm was contagious, and it did things to his heart to hear her insinuate about coming here with him again. “and by then you’ll be a pro. even better than me.â€Â
by the time it came to their second lap, and ellie let go of the railing- well, it had started out better than he thought. they went further away from the ice, but only moments after they left the railing had ellie stumbled. “ellie! have faith,†he couldn’t help but laugh as he tried to help her keep her balance, and make sure she didn’t hurt herself within minutes of wandering from the railing. he glanced at her for a moment in thought before gently sliding ahead of her, keeping hold of her hand as he skated along. “here. let’s try it this way.â€Â
and he gently began to pull her along. at first he started out slow, just to help ellie get used to it, before he began to skate a little quicker, glancing over his shoulder to look at her from time to time. “how’s this?†he gently squeezed her hand, and honestly mick knew that if he were to die in this moment, he’d die a happy man.

Ellie's heart raced, but it was by no means the usual jittery, foreboding sensation that she would often feel in her chest. Oh no - this was pure bliss, the feeling of joy and comfort in Mick's arms. Eyebrows raised as her eyes lit up, gaze low as she concentrated on balancing on the ice. "Yeah, touch wood." She commented, pausing before eyes widened, glancing around. "There's no wood nearby." She feigned exasperation as she looked around before laughing and shrugging her shoulders. "I guess I'm ought to fall now." But, as the two of them moved along the railing, she appeared to grow slowly but surely more confident the more she skated, disregarding the several lapses of confidence in where she wobbled and grasped onto the railing tighter, squeezing Mick's hand.
They continued to skate along, Ellie making a joke, and Mick answering with the sweetest (albeit cheesy) response. The wind was almost knocked out of her lungs as she turned her head to peer over at the dark haired man, lips parted gently in surprise. As then, she began to grin like an idiot, features tinging a pale pink. She hooked her bottom lip between her teeth timidly, searching his eyes for a moment before she looked ahead of her once again, making sure she wouldn't fall just like how she'd fallen for Mick in that very moment. Fallen so freely, innocently for him, as effortless as it was to take a breath. "And so I wasn't wrong." She whispered, heart thudding against her chest fervently. After all, she did say that if she'd fall, then he'd fall too... She smiled at the very thought. She liked liking Mick.
As soon as Ellie let go of the railings, it was just her luck that she almost immediately stumbled over. Though known for her grace and elegance, she was also well known for her clumsiness and her general accident-prone ways. She stood cloddish as Mick tried to help her keep balance, clinging onto his arm as she almost crouched down in a fit of giggles. It was just her luck that she'd manage to stumble. Wide smile on her lips, she finally peered up as he made a suggestion, beginning to skate ahead of her. She was curious, uncertain on what he was trying to do, before it clicked. She lit up, the pair of them quickly picking up speed as Ellie allowed for Mick to slide her along the ice carefully. "Oh my God-" She exclaimed quietly, eyes following their route around the rink. "This is the fast I've ever skated." She pointed out with a smile on her lips, even though that was obvious. If this was Mick's idea of a perfect first date, then Mick was the perfect man for her.

|
[b]“you’re a dork,†he laughed as he pointed out the obvious fact. maybe they both were dorks. but mickey had to admit that dorky looked a lot better on ellie than it’d ever look on him. “if you do fall, try to fall with style,†he supplied with a brief chuckle, gently leading her along the railing. something in this moment was just pure bliss. he’d spent so long just watching people go out on dates, feeling slightly envious. and now that he was with ellie, he wanted to just- shout his happiness to the world. instead, though, he’d just stay happily by ellie’s side (mainly because he actually really didn’t want ellie to fall and possibly get hurt).
witty and clever. mick found that quality so endearing. and so, as ellie whispered that she wasn’t wrong - a clever little remark to an already cheesy response - mick felt like his heart was placed in the palm of her hand, then, just completely hers to take. “i guess you weren’t.†he could barely fight back a grin, instead just a smile as he gazed at ellie. god, how had he gotten so lucky? but part of him also felt a slight bit of nerves. what if he got this wrong? what if he messed everything up during this first date? so far, he felt like everything had gone by just fine- but mick definitely wasn’t an expert in dating women. he wasn’t a casanova like many of his friends; he was just mickey. and ellie was.. everythingj. what man in the world wouldn’t want everything? what man in the world wouldn’t be scared to lose everything, as well?
as he lead them along, his heart felt like it was going to burst. ellie seemed so happy in that moment and, god, what he would do to keep that beautiful smile on her lips. “this is the only time you’ve ever skated,†he pointed out in return, looking over towards her with a smile making its way to his lips. for a while he simply pulled ellie along, helping her to skate along the ice rink. it felt like time really flew the more he spent time with her. and, as their time for skating was up and they went outside of the rink, he couldn’t help but ask the question, “hey. want to- go get shakes somewhere, or something?†because he didn’t want this date to end; he needed more of ellie. how could he ever want to be without her company?
