Twenty nine years of life was just around the corner and Teddy certainly could not afford to miss out on the celebrations. Tomorrow was his birthday and there was no way he’d roll onto the thirteenth without the roar of a party filling his ears. And so, his trip to New Orleans was planned meticulously. Get all the dirty jobs done, schmooze with the right people and get The Badlands name out there. Eventually, word would spread like wildfire that the Knope brothers had finally made it to the top. Micah had a wife as pretty as a picture and two boys that were too endearing. He held the world on the palm of his hand, using brains and brawn to command an organised criminal empire.
Teddy, on the other hand, had not settled down but it had never been in his nature to do so anyways. The sheer thrill of his life as a bachelor was more than enough for Teddy. Enthralled by the nightlife scene that the casino had to offer, Teddy could utilize that entrepreneurial brain of his to shape The Badlands into the picture perfect town that people from across the country would kill to visit. He was more than content with his many lovers, overjoyed with the seaside view that he could wake up to every morning, and proud at the fact he had a group of people who looked up to him as a leader. Life couldn’t get any better than it was right now in that very moment.
❝ Hey! Where y’at?! ❞ He greeted a handful of Badlanders as his shoes clicked with the way he strolled nonchalantly into the hotel lobby. He was soon followed by one of his confederates, a man who had accompanied Teddy during his trip to his hometown. ❝ How’d it go? ❞ A Badlander questioned with awe as they wandered over to listen to the story that Teddy was brewing, Teddy standing tall in the middle of the lobby as he smiled smugly towards the man. ❝ Ya know… it was unimaginable. Y’should’a seen it. ❞ Not shy to speak of his contacts around Louisiana and further afar, he’d turn away from the conversion with a cool shrug of his shoulder.
❝ More importantly though, where’s Penny at? ❞ He questioned, rolling his shoulders back before wagging a finger towards no one in particular. ❝ I asked her to gather some decorations for my birthday celebration which will be tonight, I hope ya know. Since the weather is so good, picture this: out on the terrace outside the casino, kir royales on me by the way, whilst we take the party outdoors. Brass band in da corner, chairs ‘n’ round tables and a place to dance if you wanna. What’s better than to listen to the ocean waves along with da trumpets?! ❞
Clearly excited for his big day tomorrow, Teddy’s lips curled into a pleased smile as he briefly glanced at an NPC bringing his luggage back in from the carriage. ❝ To my room… merci. ❞ Swinging back to look towards those who had gathered to welcome him back, Teddy released a pleased sigh before he threw his hands up, ❝ What are we doin’ standin’ about? I ain’t gonna be twenty eight for much longer; let's drink to dat in da casino or something. ❞ He would barely give himself time to settle down after his long trip before getting himself hyped for tonight’s celebrations. After all, he thrived on good times.

She walked over, wrapping her now free arms around Teddy smiling "Of course I got stuff together for your party, you know better than anyone here how serious I take any party" she commented, looking jokingly offended that he'd think anything less.
"Let's get to work then, everyone. As he said, we only have until tonight!" she laughed, any party she could drink at was one worth being excited for. She watched the crowd move a bit before looking up at Teddy "Happy birthday, by the way" she smiled "I was instructed to tell you Nonna says so as well and that she wants you over for dinner soon" she added, knowing if she didn't tell Teddy what Nonna told her to she'd hear about it later on. Plus she was getting old, so she couldn't walk around as much hence her grandkids serving as her personal messengers.
"The last part wasn't an offer...I guess you could call it a threat" she shrugged "However, I heard there would be music" she added, glancing up at Teddy with a raised brow "Save me a dance, casanova?"

Truth be told, Mike had had time to think while Teddy was gone, and while he still distrusted the man somewhat, the raw hatred was gone. The age old saying time heals all wounds or whatever it was, came true once again. Though there were some things that couldn’t be forgiven or forgotten. He had his hands in his pockets as he slowly made his way over, there were bags under his eyes, the cross he always wore under his shirt was displayed over now.
Perhaps a bit of symbolism there, eyes moved from Teddy to Penny, then back to Teddy, after a visible internal debate, the man made his way over, stopping a few feet from Teddy, "We need to talk Boss." There wasn’t any hesitation in his voice, his eyes remained steadfast, though there was a touch of concern. "Whenever you’re free." Mike added, backing away slightly before he walked away.
He would probably not be found anywhere around Teddy’s birthday celebration. This week held an emotional wrench. It was around this time 18 years ago that he’d believed his wife and son dead. And while it was not true that they had been dead, he still felt the need to mourn, since he didn’t know the exact day Jenny or Will had died. Lizzy for that matter either. He would mourn them all. And a mourner was not a good guest at a birthday.
That combined with his and Teddy’s past was enough reason not to be at, near, or around Teddy’s birthday celebrations at all.

She preferred to be an observer, but watching how loose people got over time and speculating on bits of overheard gossip was plenty fun for her. She happily took a box from Penny. This would probably surprise Teddy, but similar to Mike, she also no longer felt strong hatred towards the leader. He'd been kind to offer opening up the women's fighting ring, and even more so to invite her to join. She felt as if it was maybe a way of acknowledging and validating her anger. Or maybe she was just reading into it.
Either way, as Salem took the box, she gave Teddy a brisk nod. "Welcome back, and happy birthday" was all she said before walking away to decorate. VITALS > overall status: 100%

[color=#ffa64d]” ayee, boss, how was it? “ they ask, holding out his hand to pull him into a little hug. ever since coming here, they’ve been drawn to the administration as a whole, but with teddy being the most accessible, they have fixated on him. all he wants is to be recognized for his work, be almost taken in by the knope’s. he’s striving for their praise and trust, ultimately, and kipp doesn’t really care what they have to do to earn it.
[color=#ffa64d]” why hasn’t anyone gotten the birthday guy a drink yet?! “ he calls over towards the bar, an infectious laugh tagging on in the end. teddy goes into birthday decorations and ideas, kiki tries to think of a way to help with something, but they’re coming up a bit dry. no responsibilities? now they can really go all out, no pressure or worry about some job, they’d make it the best night of teddy’s life, hopefully, [color=#ffa64d]” i’m sure twenty-nine will look just as great. i mean..... common, right? “ they look over their shoulder for agreement, stroking the ego. He hugged her back, soon pulling away so that he could kiss either side of her cheeks in greeting before straightening up again eagerly. ❝ A dinner from Nonna? I’m a lucky man. ❞ He pointed out, hand on her shoulder before pointing out, ❝ Tell her I’ll be there! ❞ At what time, he couldn’t guarantee. But, wherever he could, he’d try to impress the older members of the group. They held great influence over the youngsters, after all. Beginning to step back to glance towards the others soon approaching, the corner of Teddy’s lips twitched at Penny’s request. ❝ Always. I’ll be waiting on it. ❞ Usually, it meant that he’d likely forget until she reminded him again before he’d make a convincing excuse as to how he’d manage to let it slip his mind.
But, it was his birthday tomorrow; he could do whatever the hell he liked.
Brows evidently bunched together at Mike’s painfully vague statement. They needed to talk. About what exactly? He barely deserved an ounce of Teddy’s time but if this was an apology or an act of getting off of Teddy’s back, he’d oblige. ❝ We’ll talk. The day after tomorrow. ❞ He wasn’t going to let Mike’s misery mess up his birthday plans after all. This was a two day staycation that he intended to use wisely. Soon, Salem followed as she wished him happy birthday before turning to leave, eyes following her disappearing silhouette before he was soon distracted by Kiki.
❝ Kiki! ❞ Teddy exclaimed, eager to take his hand to pull them into a hug. Teddy could appreciate Kiki — hell, everyone should appreciate Kiki. A model citizen in The Badlands who would thus be treated as such. Teddy was good in the way he was consistent; respect his leadership, and one would be treated like royalty. Defy his leadership, and he’d be sure to see one suffer for it in ways they would be unable to imagine. It was a fair enough deal in Teddy’s mind, after all. He was the reason The Badlands was successful, alongside his brother and sister-in-law. He was the reason all of these misfits and bastards were able to live another day, because of him. Think about it. Teddy sure did often.
He began to cackle with mirth at Kiki’s demand for someone to get Teddy a drink, Teddy pointing at no one in particular before he announced, ❝ A Negroni. Don’t forget da orange peel! ❞ Turning back to Kiki, nose shrivelled up with amusement as Kiki said the words that Teddy loved to hear. Complimenting his appearance with an authentic ease; who wouldn’t love to be around someone like them? He only topped things off once suggesting they should make use of the casino for some gambling between members. Teddy loved the thrill of the game, and even more so loved the thrill of winning. After all, the house always won, and Teddy was the master of said house. ❝ Now you’re talkin’! ❞ He exclaimed, clamping a hand on Kiki’s shoulder to shake them playfully.
❝ But before dat, I got ya somethin’ whilst I was in New Orleans! ❞ Eyes shifted around to make sure people were still watching before he turned to scratch through his satchel, soon turning back to Kiki before revealing a handful of jewellery. ❝ I saw this and thought of ya. Couldn’t choose which one I liked more, so I got ‘em both! ❞ A necklace and a set of rings, Teddy knew that Kiki was one to look glamorous during events. They deserved the gift from Teddy's home; they’d been treating Teddy like the kingpin he was since they first arrived.

the hotel lobby wasn't really a place to frequented. she liked to be a social setting, sure. observe others from afar, wonder on whether tonight would be the night she'd feel confident enough to approach them, but that'd been before flintlock. at flintlock, her excitement derived from being able to get ready with maxine , reassuring her about eddie while simultaneously hoping she'll catch the leader's attention. at flintlock, it was so familial that children were nearly unavoidable, and so beatrice seems to melt into the setting almost naturally. flintlock's events were relatively tame in comparison to what were badlands, and they were something she both hated and adored. and she melted, sure, but in a way that just dispersed within three seconds.
there would need to be as many helping hands as possible for this party, so beatrice decides to make her way to the hotel lobby to see what she could assist with , and maybe to get the scope on what exactly it'd be for. already, the building is buzzing with activity, and she's able to spot michael and salem within the crowd. salem seems to already picked a task , so beatrice decides she'd bother her later. but micheal , on the other hand , stands by his lonesome with that look he almost seems to have. the one that makes her wonder if she should bother in the first place. bea decides to put that on the maybe list, too, and instead makes a beeline for the nearest npc to further inquire on the event taking place , grabbing a decoration as she does so. "hey, what are we celebrating?"
as if on cue, teddy bursts through the door and the room just seems to . . . light up. she doesn't think she's ever seen anything like it in real life. often , these kind of men only exist in books. they're brash and full of themselves and demand attention , and somehow , everyone just loves them for that. npc doesn't have to tell her what this event is for because everyone makes it quite clear: it's teddy's twenty-ninth birthday. penny , salem , and kiki greet him and kiss his butt as if he deserves it. even her father wants to talk to him. what about? he's a golden boy in it's worst form; such a superficial thing that shouldn't bother beatrice but it does. it's odd to be so bitter about it. he's hurt her father , and that should be reason enough. but apart of her can't help but feel envy , too. something that she is unwilling to admit to herself even now. instead , she puts down the decorations, unaware that npc holds their hand waiting for her to take it, and makes her way over towards michael, hoping to push him further.
[color=#1F7995]"i didn't think anyone could be so full of themselves like that," beatrice jokes halfheartedly , tilting her head. [color=#1F7995]"but I guess I was wrong." her eyes follow teddy briefly before she glances at michael , absentmindedly leaning back on her heels. [size=9pt][color=#1F7995]"um , how are you doing?"
