Johannes had picked up signs from Rudolf throughout their years here--so luckily, his vocabulary involved the areas of the Lodge, though in other situations his knowledge would have been sorely lacking. First aid in infirmary. It wasn't the most comfortable, but it was the cleanest spot in the lodge. Since it had been a fairly large operation back in the day, it warranted a room to hold medical supplies and to take care of injuries or keep people stable while they waited for more serious medical help. These days, it was mostly a stockroom for what little they had; bandages, some antiseptic--nothing in the way of pills or injections, but herbs and more natural remedies were on the shelves now, alongside medical tools. He could clean out the wound and bandage it; probably splint it as well so as not to let his movements tear open the wound. Speaking of which--he'd probably need stitches. Fuck. He kept an arm around his friend's shoulders--stretching as he was, since Rudolf was a good few inches taller--and moved with him down the hall. He had his knife in his other hand--ready for any other dogs that might run by; though enough of the lodge was awake and fighting them off that he figured most would probably think it too difficult to bother attacking. They'd probably run right back out where they came from.

He was so glad Johannes had taken the time to learn as much sign language as he had; the last thing they needed right now was the language barrier between them, and with every sign he'd taught the man, another brick in the wall was torn down. The infirmary wasn't too far, but with the pain in his arm it felt like an eternity until they reached the small room. you know how? he asked Johannes, a little worried the man wouldn't know how to fix him up. Maybe there was someone else on the way to the room to help. Maybe they'd just have to wing it, together. He was scared, but he'd been through worse. They could do it. They had to.

Johannes stared at Rudolf, not responding for a second as they walked down the hall. He glanced down any other path, making sure it was clear of dogs; but his answer came slowly. He knew the signs--but he felt reluctant answering. Still, silence wasn't any more reassuring. Don't know. A nervous reflex brought his hand down from his forehead to Rudolf's side--he'd heard a noise, and had moved protectively...but there was nothing there. Great. Now he was going to be paranoid the rest of the journey to the infirmary. He didn't want to leave his friend hanging, though--and it wasn't that he had no idea at all--he felt reasonably sure he could clean the wound, and keep it bandaged.
Stitching it on the other hand...and Johannes wasn't really an optimist.
Luckily, they weren't attacked. Unluckily--the infirmary was empty. Shit. His look of worry was obvious, though he made...an attempt to mask it behind a grimace. You'll be fine.

Johannes had no idea what he was doing, and that scared rudolf. But despite the wild look in his eyes, the rest of him stayed pretty untellig.
