— mateo had never made a snowman before. if there had been enough snow to do so, he would’ve tried, but he wouldn’t have necessarily known what to do. roll a snowball around in the snow until it got bigger, and do that a couple of times… mateo figured there were better things to help kids out with, especially when the odds of snow were so painfully bleak in this city by the coast.
“that looks great,” he hummed to the little girl, her eyes lighting up at the acknowledgement before turning back to her project. sand castles. they weren’t quite snowmen, but they were still something that people could pitch in on to try and construct.
“mateo, look! i’m trying to make a snowman- out of sand!” one kid squeaked for mateo’s attention. “very nice, niño,” he praised. the kid smiled and went back to work.
he supposed this could be some sort of competition. he didn’t know what he could possibly give the winner, or if anyone wanted a gift for the best sand-creation. that being said, he would enjoy the enthusiasm that everyone had as they worked in their own little spots in the sand.
