that would be enough --100th oneshot

Your life can change so much in a year's time. She gained a family - a father, mother, brother, niece, nephew, basically-brother-in-law - and she lost them all just as quick. They were alive, as far as she knew, but they were gone. She arrived in The Badlands, left and went through absolute hell, met Green, went back to Badlands. She went from being scared anytime her family wasn't in eyesight, to having a baby girl. For a small fraction of her twenty years on earth...things felt normal. She felt normal.

But nothing ever went well for her for long.

Felicity was so little when she knew something was up. Something was going to happen in the Badlands and as soon as she could just feel it all going to hell she ran. She left the most vague note for the people she loved most and ran. She ran to the only person she knew would keep Felicity safe. She didn't matter, she never mattered. Nothing mattered but her baby. Their baby. Felicity Green.

Even after finding out everyone was safe, when Scott arrived to see her and tell her they were all ok, she worried. Everyday she worried about Mo, Bas, Gav, Scott, Mord, and Molly. She didn't know where they were, but she assumed everyone was okay and happy. They always were on her mind, especially as she watched the small baby she originally brought to Northstar turn into this little...person.

But she never noticed it, not until Felicity became attached to her bandana like it was a safety blanket. "You know, your uncle gave you that” she had told her daughter, sitting on the floor with her and the dogs. Of course, Felicity couldn't really respond, but she didn't have to. "You really liked them, you didn't even cry when they held you like they thought” she laughed, gently rubbing her daughter's head as she played with her toys with a tight fist on the small pink bandana.

Paige wondered if Mo and Basile still had theirs.

She hadn't verbally mentioned anyone since then, they hadn't even completely crossed her mind. Even though they were always in the back of her mind. But now that Felicity could walk she realized how many milestones her former makeshift of a family had missed. Sure, she had somewhat made a new one in Northstar, but it wasn't the same. Not completely anyways. She had Green, but she didn't know who else really considered her family at all. But Green was only because of Felicity, had she not had her, she'd be alone again.

So when she took Felicity to the beach, mostly to let her waddle around in the sand, she couldn't help but think about everyone and everything. How Mo probably would try to get Licity to go in the water and how it would make her cry. Or that Felicity might copy Mo and bring over sand or some random rock to show her and Gav and Scott with their fake awe of wonder at whatever silly thing she'd present. Not to mention the thought of sleepovers with Mo and Basile, or them all with Molly who probably would've made the whole mother thing a lot less scary for Paige.

But the world isn't kind, even to those who have endured so many terrible things.

It was kind to others, like Felicity, who was growing up loved by and with both her parents, in a safe place. Her year started out chaotic, but for the now almost one-year-old, she had a better start than her mother and Paige would see to it that that would continue. Which for now, included listening to Felicity ask for Dada while getting ready for bed, and babbling in protest when Paige tried to explain Green would see her soon as she laid next to mom in Paige's bed with dogs surrounding it keeping them safe.

Felicity was safe. That's all that matters.
Her makeshift family was safe. Even if she couldn't see them.

The world has always been unkind to Paige, but it let her rest each night with the certainty that everyone she loves and cares about are safe, wherever they are.

// this is...kinda uglie BUT 100th post of sadness and nothingness bbs
