play me a song - open
#1
She was never one to brag about what she was good at - if it wasn't fighting related. So, when she decided to sit at a piano in the lodge and play, she thought nothing of it. She wanted to teach one of her kids to play, maybe Charlotte if she wanted. But instead, she played carelessly, only paying mind if someone stopped to listen to her. She could sing fairly well she thought, but she didn't. No, the only ones who have heard her sing are her kids. Maybe Henry and Ida if they asked her, but no one else in the lodge.

And that wasn't something she planned on sharing with the world.

However, she did hum. If the song had lyrics she hummed along but that's as close as she got to singing. She took requests from those who stopped to listen, but she just...played. Blake would apologize for being "too out of practice" but would still play. This is what happened when she wasn't chasing around toddlers or big babies, she had to think of things to do.

She had to do something, because if she didn't...she would start crying or something again. Something small would get her to cry over her kids, so she'd ask for requests, if she didn't know the songs she'd tell them to hum as much as they knew and she'd try to figure out the keys. So when the song ended, she awkwardly looked over to meet the eyes of anyone who had arrived between then and now "So...what next? Anyone have a song?"

Already choking on my pride, so there's no use crying about it — personality
— I like to think Blake is a good example of the whole "strong, independent woman" thing even if she doesn't identify as a woman. She has a short temper and what I gently put as homicidal tendencies. She will gladly fight someone, regardless if they're bigger than her or not. However, she's also rather maternal and is more likely to protect a child than anything. Her maternal side has massively shown itself since the twins were born, though that leaves her more violent side to be overlooked or forgotten.

Of course, it was under the worst of circumstances, but this was all for the very best. Whilst parents around Flintlock Lodge could use their time for themselves, Eddie was seen as an exception. He rarely had the chance to spend time with his children and, even if he could be around them more, he was so occupied by his job as Captain that it took away most opportunity to just be a father. Even now, he was so busy with work that he could barely take time out for himself.

Silently, he sat in the lounge as he listened to Blake playing the piano, taking a short break from his work to relax for a moment. The music was soothing in the otherwise quiet lodge, eyes lowered as he silently watched the gentle crackle of the fire. If Alfie was still here, he would’ve sabotaged Blake by now, obnoxiously slamming his hand down on the keys to mess around with her. But, the exuberance and life in him was sorely missed, a vacancy in the now-muted afternoons.

Eyes shifted up as he watched Lucia gently step into the room, soon followed by Ripley who decided to clamber onto the couch right beside Eddie. ❝ Anyone have a song? ❞ Blake asked, Lucia wandering closer to the side of the piano before looking down towards Blake. ❝ Do you know how to play Goodbye Yellow Brick Road? ❞ Slowly, Lucia nudged Blake’s shoulder before going to sit beside her, Eddie deciding not to say anything as he then lowered his gaze again. Ripley grumbled, the shepherd dog then laying his head on Eddie’s lap before shutting his eyes peacefully. Eddie could see the appeal, he contemplated before looking back towards the fire.
