It was Sunday, around 1 in the afternoon. They didn't have any missions to go on today. However, the overwatch members had just arrived back at the base from going to a funeral for some of their fallen comrades from the previous mission. Jesse seemed unusually quiet when they got back. Gabriel had a sober expression on his face. He was no stranger to these funerals. It was always hard losing their members, but sadly that was the price to pay for this war.

Once back, Gabriel stopped, looking Jesse over. The other hadn't been here that long, yet he had already seen many of their comrades fall in battle. Jesse had yet to harden up to these sights. He watched as Jesse moved away from the group and head to his room. Gabe sighed and moved off to go check on Jack.

He stopped once he spotted the other male. "How are you holding up?" Gabriel asked.

jack had been walking down the hall with a mass of papers in his arms when he heard Gabe ask him something. he looked up at him and blinked. "hm..?" he asked, frowning.

Gabriel looked him over. "You were at the funeral today. I just wanted to make sure you were holding up alright." He said.

he blinked. "i'm as alright as i always am after a funeral." he sighed and looked through the multiple folders he was holding.

Gabriel nodded. "Yeah, I suppose you are." He said. He looked him over. "You need any help?" He asked.

he blinked and smiled softly. "no, Gabe. im alright."

He nodded. "Alright." He murmured, offering a soft smile. He then sighed. He was about to say something when he spotted Jesse walking down the hall. "Hey, kid?" Gabe asked gently. Jesse stopped. He glanced back at him.

"Yes sir?" Jesse asked. Gabriel blinked.

"You doing okay? You're pretty quiet today." He said. Jesse blinked, looking away.

"I'm fine." Jesse said.

jack blinked and looked over jesse. he set a hand on his shoulder gently and smiled softly at him. "hey, you don't have to hide it, you know." he said. "i was pretty upset after my first funeral too."

Jesse glanced at Jack's hand before looking up at them. Gabriel nodded. "It's hard Jesse. But, we're here for you as well." He said.

Jesse frowned. "Why? I ain't dead yet." Jesse said, eyeing them.

he blinked. "jesse, as long as Gabe and i are alive, we're gonna keep you and as many others as we can safe and alive. especially you, ok?"
