It had been around a month later since Jack had joined the group. During that time, they had started to train him in guns. Which...If Gabe was honest, Jack needed more practice with that. He wasn't terrible, but Jack wasn't great either. But they had moved on to physical training now, and Jack had been impressing the group. He was doing much better then they thought he would just judging by his looks

of course, considering where he group up, and the standards that had been set in place, he was.. kind of skinny but still muscular. he had done great with free climbing- on both easy, medium, and hard courses- and they had finally moved onto physical endurance. they wanted to see how long he could run, and they had put their fastest person up against him, and he was just waiting at the starting line. they wanted to see if he could outrun them, or run for a longer amount of time. honestly, he was doubtful that he could pass them, or even run longer than them, but he’s give it a try. he glanced toward Gabe, both of them in position to bolt around the oval track.

Gabe and Emre had been watching them. They weren't the quickest of the group. Those two were pretty much the two in the group that were just there to pump in damage to any enemies. They had brute strength on their side, not speed. Maria on the other hand was the quickest they had. So she had offered to train with Jack.

After a minute, Gabe gave the signal to go. Maria instantly bolted off.

jack bolted off, and after about ten seconds of running, he seemed to catch up to maria. he looked at her out of the corner of his eyes and smirked, looking at her after a moment, saluting and then pushing into the ground to give him a boost, which sent him about five feet ahead of her, simply continuing to run.

maria noticed his smirk. She smriked back, but then her eyes widened when Jack suddenly managed to gain some ground ahead of her. She blinked, trying to catch up.

he kept up at a steady pace. he was breathing a bit oddly- taking two quick breaths through the nose and breathing out two little breaths through his nose. after about five laps, he started to grit his teeth and slow a bit, but he didn’t stop.

Maria continued running as well, managing to catch up to him. However, she seemed to notice him breathing a bit oddly. She frowned, watching him out of the corner of her eye.

he waved a hand slightly. “something.. i learned!” he said, breathing normally for a moment. he then went back to breathing like he had been. “sync.. with each.. step!” he explained.

Maria watched him. She blinked, nodding before looking ahead. She soon slowed down to a slower jog for a inute before gradually slowing down to a walk, breathing heavily.

jack kept running for another lap before stopping at the line, bracing his hands just above his knees and bending over, taking deep breaths. “shit.” he breathed and finally just sat on his lane on the track.
