It had been about a day later since Steve was admitted into the hospital. He had been knocked out for the past day, mostly just due to exhaustion from losing blood and the drugs they gave him. Sam and Dean were out in the waiting room with Danny. They had been there all night waiting for the other to wake up.

finally, a nurse walked over and smiled softly. “you three can go see him now. he’ll likely still be groggy and in some pain so i’d be careful if you touch him.. but you are allowed to see him.” she said and danny jumped out of his chair and bolted to the room.

Dean looked up. He seemed a bit hesitant. Sam rested a hand on his shoulder. “Go ahead Dean. I’ll wait out here.” Sam murmjred. Dean nodded. He then got up, heading off to his room

steve was laying down on the bed, a breathing mask over his mouth and nose. he smiled softly when he saw them and sighed. “hey..” he croaked and winced slightly.

Dean glanced him over. “Hey Steve.” He murmjred softly. He then looked at Danny. He moved to the side of the room to give them some space

danny huffed. “you’re an idiot? you know that?” he said softly and took steve’s hand to squeeze gently. steve sighed. “yeah, you’ve.. told me multiple times..” he mumbled and sighed. he was finding it hard to breath, so something must have happened with his lungs. danny sighed and gave him a sympathetlook. “i called rachel and grace is worried about you, so i’m gonna go bring her to see you.” he said and steve nodded. “sounds good.” he said and looked at dean. danny gave his hand one last squeaze before headed off.

He watched as Danny left before looking down at Steve. He slowly moved over, gently brushing his hair back. “Next time you’re out on the field don’t run off without the others.” Dean murmured

steve sighed and tilted into his hand. “i had him. you expect me to just.. stand by while a killer is running? at least we got him.. right?”
