Gray was... actually a pretty good singer. He hated his voice, however. He was able to make his speaking voice sound deeper and more masculine, but when he tried to do the same to his higher pitched, more feminine singing voice, the results sounded horrific.
So he didn't sing.
The teen loved music, though. He might have even liked Macklemore (mostly), but this... Ugh. "Soldier, I actually envy you. You're too old to hear what you sound like."
