— the first days of his new life - the first few weeks, even - had been absolutely miserable. he had been a young man that suffered greatly. still recovering from an all-time low when he never knew until then what it felt like to fall. he often tried not to reminisce about such a low point in his life, though from that point he had learned what it meant to survive and endure. he couldn’t let another person know that they got to him. better yet, if they did, then he had to show them that there would be hell to pay.
while others thought it wasn’t worth the hassle to fight their way out of troubling situations, jp found fighting to be the only way to make it. fighting tooth and nail became his only option. soon enough he was no better than the other thugs out on the street, bullying the less fortunate for their lunch money. if being alone meant that the darkness could easily creep into all the cracks of a well lived and innocent life, then jp’s solitude allowed the darkness to swarm in and eventually consume him. though, unlike others, he couldn’t say he felt remorse for such actions. he preferred being a thug and a punk in someone’s eyes than allow himself to be taken advantage of.
he stared at the first person to come out and greet him, gaze bordering between being blank and mildly unimpressed. a hesitant smile, looking wary almost… this guy looked like a gust of wind could knock him over. was he looking for the district? although he hadn’t been looking for the district in particular, he figured it’d be easier to agree than to tell this man his life story. “yeah. you could say that.” his gaze lingered on him before looking over the man’s shoulder at the district behind him.
“i’m not looking to join. just a place to stay for a couple of weeks.” he sounded overall absent as he said it, already used to the same-old routine. “got any open rooms?”
