i come back to this
also quick note!! wild wolf packs don't actually adhere to the dominance theory (alpha/beta/omega/etc), that's only been observed in captivity, specifically from a study on wolf packs dating back to the 1930s-40s, wherein unrelated individuals were grouped together.
actual wolf packs are composed of a mated pair and their children; the younger wolves aren't forced into submissive roles by their parents, but instead are freely deferential to them, as is (generally) the case with human families.
the captive wolves from the 1930s-40s study were under severe stress; they were forced to live with unrelated wolves in an environment that was man-made. the need to survive in an enclosed space where others were driven by the same thing devolved into violence over resources and safety. that, combined with the very human concept of rank and status, gave way to years of misinformation that the scientists themselves have long since denounced.
the structure of real wolf packs is what i'm going by, for the most part; adult children actually tend to disperse at a certain age, but given the leeway provided by a Fictional RP Siteâ„¢, i'm kind of ignoring that lmao. but yeah, the dominance theory isn't a real thing, otherwise actual wolves wouldn't be able to survive because it'd just be. infighting. (and the theory is highkey problematic because of its influence on dog training bUT that's a tangent for another day)
ANYWAY haya's gonna make his dramatic entrance right about now

THE MEANEST DOG YOU'LL EVER MEET
HE AIN'T THE HOUND DOG IN THE STREET. HE BARES SOME TEETH AND TEARS SOME SKIN; BUT, BROTHER, THAT'S THE WORST OF HIM. NOW, THE DOG YOU REALLY GOT TO DREAD IS THE ONE THAT HOWLS INSIDE YOUR HEAD. IT'S HIM WHOSE HOWLING DRIVES MEN MAD AND A MIND TO ITS UNDOING. ————————————————————— STORAGE xxxxxxxxxxxxx
