this is unrelated but I need to vent my frustration
I'm reading this book and it's been really good so far, there's a lot of mystery and intrigue and things are starting to become clear? And what I'm highkey hoping is gonna be the main char's love interest promised to explain everything, vanished for a couple days, came back, and she and the m/c are like "it's time to talk"
so obviously we cut to a completely different scene, with no answers and also no possible love interest

APPEARANCE: Standing at about 6’1, Saint is a fairly tall man with a build to match, having trained for the marines and ever since kept it up, he weighs roughly 200lbs. due to his athletic background. He bears broad shoulders and wide stance, his most notable feature being simply how much space he takes up. He has striking dark eyes and short, dark hair to match, bright against his light complexion. He’s ysually seen with a dark stubble about his sharp jaw, but may grow it out or shave it depending on preference. With sharp cheekbones and a defined brow, his features are chiseled with rough angles. He can usually be seen with bruises and cuts covering his body, and often times with busted lips and a black eye or two.

EQUIPMENT: Saint carries with him a backpack when traveling to and fro, filled with various needed items, including long-lasting foods, as many water bottles as he can fit, a chew toy for his dog, Max, an extra mag, and a box filled with miscellaneous first aid items. He’s always armed, usually with a combat knife, a pistol, and, if he can, a rifle.

PERSONALITY: "HE'S A WEAPON THEY NO LONGER HAD ANY USE FOR."
Rough around the edges, Saint often comes off as a mysterious figure. Predominantly quiet, he chooses his words carefully and speaks only when needed or in good company. He's a character who, despite his introverted persona, is noticed by most due to his large size and gruff mannerisms. He tends to keep to himself and spends his time with his dog, Max, and a few others he favors in some aspect. He comes off as a defensive and mean character, but truly just is a lonely, wallowing asshole.
Despite his usually passive attitude, in times of conflict, he is usually the first to step up, and if needed, will become aggressive/defensive quickly. Saint can become extremely aggressive in his actions when faced with an antagonist, and this anger built up in him is a sight to fear. He is capable of great harm, and is unafraid to execute that ability when needed. He's very observant and opinionated, and if he finds you guilty of a wrongdoing, he would apathetically watch you burn.
Saint is hard to conversate with, and holds a strong dislike for the majority of people. He holds others at an arm's length and easily becomes irritable. He has a soft spot for kids, who bring out the fatherly nature of Saint, and he will go to any ends to protect children and innocents- the only thing stronger than his martyr-complex is his savior-complex. Once you've gained his friendship, Saint is a man that would take a bullet for you and go to any means to ensure your safety and wellbeing.
