Rick smiled, kissing his cheek. “Alright.” He murmured.

James nodded, following beside Carl. Shiva walked alongside them, keeping her gaze on James. She then shook her head, looking ahead. James watched her warily. “So...Why do you have a tiger here?” He asked

he hummed brightly.
carl blinked. "well, she was an old friends."

Rick smiked before looking ahead. He spotted Carl and Shiva with James. He frowned. “Who’s that Carl?” Rick asked.

James was about to say something before he heard Rick. He looked up at Rick, stopping.

carl shrugged. "he wants to join."

Rick glanced at James. “Is it just you?” He asked. James nodded.

“Yes sir.” He said, watching him. Rick blinked.

“Alright. You’re free to join, but if you cause any problems here, you will be kicked out if you’re lucky. And you’re going to have to pull some weight around here as well.” Rick said.

He nodded. “Alright sir.” He said. Rick glanced him over.

“I’m Rick. This is Daryl, and that’s our kid, Carl. I see you’ve already met our guard tiger Shiva.” Rick said

he nodded and smiled.

Rick glanced him over. “James right?” Rick asked. James nodded. “Alright. How good are you with a gun?” He asksd.

“Pretty good. I have some good accuracy.” He said.

“Great. We still keep guards around even though there’s not many threats anymore. There’s an occasional zombie so we still need some guards. We have an outpost stationed at both ends of the town. You’ll be a guard at one of them for now.” Rick said.

“Alright.” James said. Rick blinked.

“We have an opening in one of the buildings down the road. You are free to stay there. You can have a tour later on and then start your work tomorrow.” Rick said

It had been about two months later since James joined. The community had started to become more open to him now that he’s been here for a while. Shiva...Tolerated him. Rick trusted him. He found out the hard way not to mess with Daryl. That guy was terrifying when mad. He and Carl started getting closer as well. It was nice here.

James was currently doing watch, up in the outpost they had next to the wall surrounding the town. He glanced around silently. He blinked, spotting Shiva wandering about down below, sniffing the ground.

carl eventually moved to the guard post, humming. "hey." he greeted a bit brightly. "carol baked us some cookies."
