merlin, despite knowing this would happen, was odd red than the rubys on arthur’s crown- or, his cheeks were at least. he blinked when arthur spoke and smiled shyly. “thank you.. you look nice too.”

[peridot.]

Arthur smiled slightly and said, pleased, "Thank you, Merlin~" After a few minutes, a couple from two kingdoms over came over, a tall woman and her slightly shorter husband. The man seemed fascinated, while the woman looked vaguely disgusted. The man questioned, smiling, "Arthur! It is good to see you well! Who is this young man?" Arthur smiled and answered, glaring pointedly at the woman, "This is Merlin, my trusted advisor and suitor."

merlin made a soft, slightly nervous noise. “uh.. hello. a pleasure to meet you..” he said softly to the two.

[peridot.]

"I'm King Arlan, and this is my wife, Nemora." Arlan said, introducing himself. He then said softly to Arthur, "I'll admit that I wasn't expecting you to have feelings for men, but this Merlin fellow seems very nice. I'm sure he'll make a fine king one day." Arthur blinked and said, chuckling, "A-Ah, it's a bit early for that. But I do agree that he is... Very special." The wife, however, still seemed to be seething, and glared at Merlin before whispering something in her husband's ear before turning and stalking off towards the tables.

as she walked off, merlons eyes flowed slightly, and her dress seemed to tie onto a nearby table cloth that would bring everything off it as she kept walking. he didn’t like her at all.

Arthur blinked in surprise when Nemora let out a squeal, and he looked over to see her gasping and sputtering in fury. Arlan blinked in surprise and said softly to the two, "Oh, uhm... It was nice to see you two." He then rushed over to his wife. Arthur couldn't help but laugh once he was gone, and he glanced over at Merlin, saying softly, "If anybody deserved that, it was definitely her."

he smiled slightly and nodded. “she thinks she’s better than you..@ he muttered.

Chuckling, Arthur said softly as he smiled at Merlin, "Well... Is she right?"

he shook his head. “she’s much, much worse, obviously.@ he said and kissed him.

It was later that day, and while everything he had had to do had been exhausting, it had been a bit better having Merlin around with him. Now, he was walking into the royal banquet hall with none other than Merlin on his arm, now dressed up in the fitted and fancy clothing. Merlin had protested a bit when Arthur had suggested they walk arm in arm, but Arthur had given him a sort of soft puppy dog eyes and said it would make them seem more like a couple. Already, some of the people from the other kingdoms were eying them with curiosity. Arthur said softly to Merlin as they walked, smiling a bit, "You look very nice with that fitted and everything, Merlin."
