Ellie was still recovering from the past week’s events. From getting kidnapped from that one man, to almost dying because of the fireflies. She was still shaken up emotionally. And Joel was still healing from the gunshot wound on his side.

The two had been traveling together now for a few days. Ellie had been fine, but she had started to come down with a fever, and they didn’t have any medication for her. For the first few days she just felt hit because of it, but she had been slowly getting weaker and sicker.

The sun was just starting to rise, causing a soft yellow-pink hue in the sky. Ellie was stumbling behind Joel a bit. She blinked, looking around. It seemed like this area was pretty deserted. However, she could see a sign up ahead. Perhaps it could point them in the direction of a town or someplace they could rest and find some
Medicine.

Ellie gritted her teeth a bit when a pain passed through her body, but it soon passed and she relaxed a bit as she made her way over to the sign.

of course, joel and ellie weren’t the only ones left in the world. on a window ceil say a man, smoking a cigarette quietly and listening to a old Ipod. he looked down when he heard footsteps and frowned, taking his binoculars and putting his cigarette out, moving into the building and climbing to the roof to walk along the boards he had put up, walking their path.

After a bit, they arrived to a town. Ellie glanced around. It looked run down, but it was better looking then most towns they passed by. Joel glanced down at ellie. “Ellie? You alright kiddo? You look paler then before.” Joel murmured, clearly concerned. He then felt her forehead, checking for a fever. He frowned. She felt really hot.

“I’ll be fine Joel.” She murmured. She sounded exhausted and she looked worn down. Joel sighed.

“Alright. Let’s find someplace to settle down. You need to relax for a bit.” Joel said

the man climbed down a ladder and moved to them. “yall need help?”

Joel and Ellie glanced over at the man. Ellie quickly moved to grab her gun, but Joel held up a hand, eyeing the male warily. “We don’t want any trouble. We just need a place to rest for the night and we’ll be on our way in the morning.” Joel said

he bunked. “well.. welcome to the liberated section 24.” he stared and moved to open up the gates and let them in. “your kid ok?”

“I’m fine.” Ellie said, looking over at him.

“She’s has a really high fever for the past few days and has been getting weaker and she’s been saying her neck feels stiff. Do you have any doctors here that could check her over before we head out?” Joel asked

he blinked and pulled a box of pills from his bag. “take what you need. we have plenty.”
