It had only been a short time since Aloestar had made the official announcement that they were going through a drought as well, which only made the sudden drop in prey all the more devastating. Every day, Fernheart went out to search for some hidden source of water or food. Sunningrocks was always her best bet considering the water that flowed nearby, especially considering that every animal in the forest would go there for water since the stream that once flowed through their territory had dried up.

Already, Fernheart could feel the lack of food taking a toll on her. She was a bit more lethargic than usual considering how often she skipped meals and was constantly hunting for food. But they had kits and elders to feed. While the appearance-wise changes were a bit slower, it could be noticeable to those who had seen her before that her pelt didn't possess its usual luster or that her shoulder blades were more prominent when she walked. No matter how hungry she was or however much prey she caught on her excursions, though, she would always bring it to the clan first.

With the greenleaf sun beating down on her back, the lilac point maneuvered her way through ThunderClan territory. Her destination was Sunningrocks, hoping to find some prey there and, if she was feeling desperate enough, potentially try and snatch up some fish from the river that flowed by the rock formation. The longer she thought about it, the more desperate she became. She was worried about Aloestar's new coming to leadership and how it was already starting off on a bad paw.

When she came to the clearing, the she-cat took time to prowl around the vicinity in hopes of catching some prey unawares. For once, she was lucky and was able to catch a relatively small vole. Still, every morsel counted when it could mean the difference between life and death for a kit or elder. Once the rodent was buried beneath a thin layer of dirt to be later retrieved, the molly continued her hunt for a time before she finally gave up.

Nearby, the river babbled almost invitingly toward her. Fernheart turned and looked at the flowing water with wary eyes, watching it glide by. However, she was hungry. Cautiously approaching the river, she waded out just past her paws. Standing still and surveying the ripples with extreme scrutiny, the warrior eyed for any form of fish. Her eyes weren't accustomed to spotting flashes of silver amongst greys and blues, however, she managed to spot a few and immediately dove forward. Ending up soaked to the bone without a fish in her jaws, the she-cat swore vehemently.
