After all, she's just met these people. For all she knows, they could be waiting for her to entrust them and then pounce on her in the shadows, enslave her like her father eventually said they would. The part of her that abided by her father's warnings chirped in the back of her mind like a mockingbird, though it doesn't stop her from taking risks that may potentially show her vulnerability. How could she? When actual communities existed here. Families, not necessarily biological, gathering here to form one comfortable group addressed by the name of Northstar. Northstar. She doesn't think that it's a coincidence that she'd found a shelter within this group; even it's name promised security.

If these people were dangerous they did a hell of a good job hiding it. At this point, she's willing to settle anywhere any better than the psychological torture she'd faced twenty-one years of living.

Sullivan is comfortable in a stable , healing. She wakes up in the barn near his stables around 4am , realizing she'd fallen asleep reading a book that he probably didn't care for , but still perked his ears to listen. There was something lulling about his breathing. She hadn't even realized she was asleep until she'd awaken from her slumber. Quietly she gets up, wrapping the blanket she'd brought with her to keep warm as the weather cooled, making her way to the ocean. Somehow, time and time again, she always ended up here. She can't see it clearly, but she can hear it. The waves vigorously crashing the shore. She parks herself into the sand and listens, sits there quietly and waits for the sun to rise. Salty breeze caresses her face, her blonde hair.

This was the highs that Garrett once talked about; the highs that came when you felt restraints being loosened then released.

everyone at northstar had a story. granted, most people were too reluctant to try and share theirs, either that or they had to find trust in someone before telling it. mateo was in the latter; he had to get comfortable with someone before he let them look through his story’s extensive pages. he figured that it was the same case for winifred, the newest joiner. she seemed a bit more reserved, and even more reluctant to share her story than most. something told him that she had good reason to stay so withdrawn; whatever she had experienced before this probably wasn’t for the faint of heart. there was something about that that intrigued him, and made him so interested in her. what was her story?

he slowed to a stop when he saw her sitting on the beach, blanket wrapped around her, watching the sun rise up on the horizon. mateo paused for a moment. then, he made his way slowly over towards her. “mind if i join you?” he asked, then. a warm, kind smile appeared on his futures and he brought his gaze towards the sunrise. “it’s beautiful, isn’t it?” he pursed his lips momentarily, then added, “i think this place has the best sunsets and sunrises you could ever see.”

She wasn't supposed to still be here, but for different reasons than Winifred. She was only meant to recuperate and stock up before resuming her solo journey, but instead she was still here. Still here and even to some extent building a life. She never anticipating this happening, and even now she half expected herself to just up and leave.

Her parents were despicable, but for different reasons than Winifred. They weren't restrictive, and hardly gave a shit what she did so long as it didn't negatively affect the family. And considering the reputation of her father, of her older sister, that was a hard thing to do (nonetheless she'd found a way to manage it). No, it wasn't what the family did to itself that made them evil, it's what they did to other people.

Folks around here were different. Maybe that's part of why she stayed. She really wasn't sure.

Amy had gotten up early for a jog, hoping to clear her thoughts, when she saw two people on the beach watching the sunrise. Despite being totally counterproductive to her clearing her thoughts, she decided to walk over towards them. "It's pretty." She mumbled, glancing at Mateo.
General
— Amy Ray | Previously Lessandra Felix | Only responds to Amy
— Cis female | Feminine pronouns (she/her)
— Twenty years old | Birthday is 5/26/19 | Gemini
— Page of Northstar District

Relationships
— Homosexual | Homoromantic
— Single | Not looking
— Still not 100% past the loss of her first love
— Guarded and distrusting | Lots of walls
— Doesn't let people in easily & takes all relationships slowly
— Geoff xx Eliza | Sister of Selena, Aaron & Isabel Felix

Physical
— Health: 95% | Typical wear and tear from traveling alone
— Amy is biracial, and her skin tone reflects that - not as pale as her father but not as tan as her mother. She has long dark brown hair that is almost always tied back in a severe ponytail - with some allowance for her bangs. She's about 5'7" and has a lean build. She has brown eyes that seem to hide haunting memories - while not dark-intentioned there is rarely light in them. She has a scar under her left eye and severe burns on her hands, arms and legs as well as freckles on her face. She has three piercings in each ear and one in her belly button. She keeps herself clean and well-groomed, her eyebrows maintained and when possible her legs and underarms shaved. Typically she wears an off-white shirt and blue tie and black slacks that have seen better days and been mended and repaired repeatedly.

Personality
— Amy is generally a serious person and doesn't take a lot of time to have fun. She isn't a stranger to it by any means, nor does she consider it an enormous waste of time, but she rarely feels it has room in her life. She's usually very guarded and doesn't let people in very easily and prefers taking relationships slowly. It can't be said whether she's particularly honest or dishonest, or loyal or disloyal - there are certain topics she will not speak of and will lie about though she usually prefers to be candid, and while not inherently disloyal she has betrayed some that were close to her. She is a very stubborn and bullheaded individual and once she's convinced of something there is no way to convince her otherwise. Typically Amy is a woman of logic more than emotion and keeps said emotions on a tight leash (though she feels her emotions very strongly), she is still dictated by a strong sense of what's right and wrong and does her best to stay in the right rather than the wrong and feels a deep sense of shame whenever she hurts someone - which she (to her own horror) is indeed capable of doing. She tries to be pacifistic but when forced to violence or thinks it's the right thing to do or when her temper is tried too much, she will lash out, often regretting it later on.

Interaction
— Typically pacifistic but can be pushed to violence
— Rarely starts fights | Will try to finish them
— Roughly medium physically | Medium-hard mentally
— [member=439]Amy Ray[/member] attack in bold underline #916A7E
— Nonviolent/peaceful powerplay allowed
— No kill/capture/maim/etc without permission

[div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; color: #494949; letter-spacing: 0.2px; word-spacing: 1px; margin-top: 10px;"]When Mateo approached, Winnie jolted in subtle surprise.

Like her, he hadn't been watching her, but the sunrise and so she hopes he didn't notice her disquiet. She doesn't want to be looked at as the individual she was: caretaker. defenseless. woman. Despite just meeting these individuals, she wanted to be viewed as the opposite: confident. badass. woman. Although her upbringing isn't her fault, she still harbors deep insecurities. She'd like to change it, but she isn't quite sure where to start. She forces herself to shake the idea from her mind; Mateo is watching the sunset, and not everything is about her.

"I don't mind at all." In fact, she takes this as a good sign. "I don't think its quite the same watching alone anyway." She has barely been here a day, and already she receives notable hospitality. A few hours here is already better than weeks at her father's estate and yet, she tries not to feel so delighted so fast. She knows that things can change. She doesn't like change, but that doesn't dispute it. But like a stubborn star in the polluted sky, her hopefulness rears its head. Maybe this could be her place. Maybe just maybe she can stay here. Safe. Quiet. And assume the company she so naturally craved.

"I used to watch the sunset with my brother sometimes. But I don't think it was quite like this. He would have loved it." She quietly observed almost longingly, a pang in her heart. She realized she was bringing up what was past, something that she wanted to avoid in fear questions might follow. She's thankful when Amy joins them. She doesn't think she's seen her before, but better late than ever, right? "Pretty indeed." Her eyes flit from the woman to the being that lights up a sky full of purples and oranges. Pretty indeed.

she didn’t mind him sitting with her. mateo didn’t miss the chance to settle down beside her, a few feet or so between them. he didn’t know much about winnie; hell, he didn’t think he knew anything at all about the newcomer. he should make the effort to try and get to know her more - he knew he would try and do just that. not much information would come out of staring at the sunrise with her though - that was what he told himself, at least, until she began talking about her brother.

perhaps he passed away. perhaps they had been separated. either way, it was enough for a small, almost sad smile to come to his lips. the slightest hint of sympathy from the kind man. “is he still around?” a gentle question, slightly prying to get a glimpse into the woman’s past. his gaze lingered before looking back over towards the rising sun. “my brother and i used to have to get up, take care of animals before the sun was up. i always loved watching the sunrise.”

amy was there, then, saying that it was pretty. he hummed in agreement. then, after a moment, “here. take a seat.” a warm smile was sent her way; might as well get as many people to join them as possible.
