To Cassidy Van Den Bergh, it had taken nearly two decades for him to discover this fact, having been tied up into a world of devastation from birth and running away when his world would be tarnished by the Van Den Bergh name. Now that felt more like a life he’d been so ungracefully thrust into, and it made it inexplicably difficult to even entertain the thought that there was more to this world that his father would make apparent.

At the age of seventeen, Cassidy chose to depart from the Van Den Bergh family to take over the reins of his own life. After Maggie informed him of all of the wicked jobs which made his father more of a bastard than a man to truly look up to, Cassidy decided that he had to leave. The decision to leave Jamie behind had never been one that he’d taken lightly, mulling over his choices for days before ultimately coming to the decision that Jamie would be better off with Brock, a man who actually knew how to take care of a younger teenager; Jamie could make the decision to leave Brock when he was old enough to understand the type of man he was.

Upon demanding that Brock did not tell Jamie that Cassidy had made the choice to leave him behind, Cassidy left without properly getting the chance to say goodbye. He only gave his brother one last glance, knowing well that it’d be the last time they’d see each other, at least for a long, long time. Brock had taken everything from Cassidy; the very thought of spending another moment in his company made Cassidy sick.

All of the hurt Brock had put him through. The grievances, the suffering. The fact that he could barely be a father to Cassidy when Cassidy needed him the most. The fact that Brock allowed Cassidy's own mother to die, and then refused to talk about her as if her name was taboo. Leaving two boys to grow up feeling as if they couldn't open their heart to their egocentric father, as if he never once cared about how they felt.

Brock could have tried a little better to be a good father.

Cassidy reinvented his life after he left, building it back up brick by brick until it became a life he was proud to live. Admittedly, it hadn’t always been easy - filled with many moments of fear and uncertainty - but he felt content in the present day. That was more than he could ever ask for.

Whilst he and the rest of the little ragtag group trekked through a densely wooded area in search of a place to set up camp for a couple of days, the sound of gushing water attracted his attention. He tugged Bella along by the reins, the black mare taking most of the load by carrying supplies and valuables, as the overgrowth only led to an opening which revealed a picturesque waterfall.

Lips curled upwards into a smug smile, admiring the view before he cocked his head to the side to look down at the three women who accompanied him. ❝ We are totally setting up camp around here. I’ve always wanted to swim under a waterfall. ❞ Whilst growing up as part of the Van Den Bergh family meant adventure was always hot on their heels, so was danger as well - Cassidy wasn’t sure whether he wanted a life filled with danger. But, nowadays, he enjoyed this adventurous lifestyle of his. He didn’t have much, but he had the girls - his best friends - and the whole gorgeous world to discover.

Leaving Bella nearby to graze, Cassidy began to search their surroundings for a spot of flat land to set up their tents, followed by Tripp who trotted straight into the water and began to lap it up. Something told Cassidy that this was going to become one of their favorite spots to camp out at.

[align=center][div style="width: 400px; text-align: justify; font-size: 12px; font-family: calibri; letter-spacing: .6px; color: #494949;"]choosing to leave family was something thalia identifies with. it quite possibly can be the hardest thing one can do yet running away can often be seen as cowardly. thalia would beg to differ; her whole life, she did everything expected of her and silently craved for some sort of validation and recognition from her parents and nothing, absolutely nothing. then, with a threat to her life, she had to leave everything she had ever worked for. all of her dedication, her motivation ripped from her; the only sliver of revenge being blood of her biggest competitor on her blade.

the traveling group seem to have the shitty family in common. they helped thalia’s personal rediscovery. she never wanted the notoriety or flashy item or even money in general. she simply wants to be a valuable person to others, to be wanted. as well, she also figured out she has a distain for most men, the sole exception she’s found being cassidy.

as they enter the woods, thalia instinctively takes up the back of the group, reaching back to assure her katana is in its appropriate place on her back. she prefers the back, liking the control and feeling more secure being the one to watch their backs. plus, she simply didn’t have to make the decisions on where they were going, one aspect of control she doesn’t care much for. she’s the last to spot the waterfall, causing her to slow, eyes a bit wide as she takes in the sight. thalia sheds off her shoulder bag and carefully placed her sword against the same tree. " [color=#732673]might be one of your best ideas, cass " she jokes clearly despite her dry tone.

she wanders to the edge of the water near tripp. she kneels down to look better at the water. not too bad, they could probably drink from it with a little bit of boiling or something like that. she then head sober to help cass setting up their tents, " [color=#732673]i can finish this, if you wanna go swim, “ thalia offers, knowing she probably wouldn’t be joining in any swimming, still struggling with the scars of her childhood.
