This is a reminder/clarification for a few of our sensitivity rules, as well as some rule additions. Please read carefully--however, all rules will be added into the rule threads as well, of course.
First of all--we have a few words added to our censor list. At this point in time, we only add words considered slurs. Swearing is allowed. There are some words that are technically slurs that are allowed due to normalization and being more universally okay to say, for example 'queer', 'ho', 'bitch'. Note that using these offensively OOCly isn't okay, however--our rules on rudeness still stand so using anything offensively or derogatorily OOC isn't okay. Secondly, using these derogatorily IC is something you should take care to warn for, and please don't if the rper you're with doesn't like it.
Now, as to rules on what happens if you use a censored word--well, it'll show up as asterisks. You won't get warned. If we see you use periods or some other way of making a word that's censored show up, we will pm you a reminder not to do that. Since some people do that already, and it's not necessarily intentionally to get around the censor, that isn't a warning. However if after a pm you continue to do so, we will warn you.
Secondly, we're trying to clarify our position once more on what constitutes unlawful or at least inappropriate roleplay interaction on-site, so please read carefully. This section focuses more on our rules on rape as we've had many instances of rules being broken or seen as too vague, so we hope this clarification really helps settle everything.
Rules on sexual content.
• Sexually explicit images are completely forbidden on-site.
• In IMAGES, shirtless men are fine, shirtless women must be covering nipples simply due to the United States nudity laws.
• In ROLEPLAY, nudity must be non-sexual and it cannot be very explicitly described. IE, you can write a nude woman OR man, but it can't be in a sexual context and description of private parts should not be made.
• Writing smut of any kind is forbidden. Fade in/out MUST be used.
• Rapist characters are forbidden.
• Characters must be 17 to have sex. They cannot have such with anyone 18+ though, so keep that in mind.
• Consent must be given by both characters.
• Characters can have been abused sexually in their past, however it cannot be written about in the present, or as a flashback. You may write about it in a bio, and a character may refer to their past abuse, but for example, you could not write a oneshot or detailed scene of said abuse.
• Content warnings for rape mentions must be used.
In addition, we've all come to the decision that people may not create accounts or RP as specific religious figures. This means anyone specific that is revered, deified, or held with high respect in a current and real religious community. This includes real prophets, (ex. Jesus or Muhammad) real people who are involved in religion, (Pope Francis, Moses, Confucius) or gods of an existing religion (Allah, the Christian God, Krishna, Zeus).
We understand that this may feel limiting--but we wish to remain respectful to people who have religious beliefs and to essentially impersonate a real person or a divine figure of said belief is no longer permitted. However, we do have stipulations for what is allowed.
• Demigods. You may play children of a god, you may even play children of two gods, however you may not play existing demigods--IE, Heracles, Jason, etc.
• Hosts. You may play mortals (or any creature, really) who host the essence of a god for which that makes sense--the personality/person you're portraying is of your own creation but they carry power of a certain god.
• Blessed/Cursed. You may play characters that have been blessed or cursed by a god and may thus have certain powers derived from them.
• Creatures--you may play an original character of course that is of a species found within a religion. For example, an angel or demon--but you couldn't play the actual Archangel Gabriel.
• Gods, creatures, prophets.....IF they're your own creation! We'd never say you can't make your own religions/mythology for the purpose of a thread.
Other things to note--the rules against creating a specific god does include demonic entities as well, for example, Satan.
Now, this effects the entire site, but bear in mind for WNR or TNW, characters who believe they are being spoken to by a god or are prophets, or have abilities given by their god (remember in TNW that powers aren't actually allowed) there will never be canon confirmation that these deities exist. And, of course, in WNR where you can have powers--they must, as always, be bought.
Also, remember that you can have your characters who are original, believe they are being spoken to by an existing god or religious entity. it's just that the character themselves cannot BE that entity, but as there are real life people who believe a god speaks to them--that's fine.
