[align=center][div style="width: 440px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; line-height: 12px;"][size=8pt]so i just had a dream about something along these lines and it left me low key inspired?
but it was that there was this huge tribe that had very minimal contact with the outside world even before the blackout, so when it occurred they just kind of shrugged it off? but some people from the civilized world joined and integrated english and reading into the culture, so they're capable of communicating with people.
anyways, this group of people from the group had "come of age" (like eighteen or something?) so, as per tradition, they were sent out into the wilderness on their own for a week or something to be in total isolation and survive on their own. well, the week passed, they all headed home - but their tribe was completely gone. most of their stuff was left behind, there was no sign of attacks, they just disappeared. the group of kids hung around for a bit, but it became clear that no one was coming back, so they decided to leave together, since they can't stay in the location with just a few people. i imagine there might have been aggressive neighboring tribes or wild animals around that made being there as a small group dangerous.
i see there being a lot of really different and clashing personalities? the tribe was probably huge and they were all so different, so most of them never really knew each other because they had super different interests and life paths. a lot of them really don't get along, but they stick together because one another are the only memories of home and the thought of losing those tethers to culture are too scary to give up on.
i'm imagining that these people might be super starkly different? like one of them was the child of the leader and the future heir to the tribe, while another was training to be some sort of doctor, and another was an orphan that had a really hard time - i'm not sure how many of them there should be, it depends on who's interested, but we could come up with all sorts of ideas. i think it would be cool if two or three really clashed in ideals and kind of struggled for unofficial leadership of the group? and i think it could be fun if they joined one of the larger groups (northstar or flintlock maybe? idk) and had to deal with this entirely new culture and rule system being set up.
i'm also imagining little traditions like body paint that had meanings and runes and things like really highly valuing scars as symbols of strength could be neat? i dunno, these are all just ideas, but i really think a little band of people like this could be really fun and a new sort of challenge to write?
