"speech" 'thought' text

Michael had been going for a supervised walk, he knew that's what it was. Teddy didn't trust him outside of the eyes of a trusted Badlander after his outburst and attack on Teddy. Why the man hadn't just exiled him, Mike didn't know, maybe he thought Mike would still be an asset, which astounded Mike, he wasn't planning on working with the man, not anymore. Teddy was an arrogant idiot. He believed that the third of the administration was... no worthy of his respect.

He had punched Teddy, yes, and he'd do it again, and a third time if Teddy ever crossed a line with him. He flexed his now mostly healed hand and grimaced, there was still slight pain in the movement of it, though he could use it again. He would start exercising it more soon, but he would give it another week or so of... light duties.

He had been going on a walk, well jog really, stopping every fifty meters or so to wait for his escort to catch up, when he spied the small ship docking. Curiosity got the best of him, part of him wanted to jump in the ship and sail far far away. But he didn't run away from his problems, well most of his problems. The dark haired man looked quietly at the figure that stood in front of him now, cocking his head to one side, he studied Jin's face.

The babysitter assigned to him came puffing up breathing heavily, and Mike shot him a glower, though he supposed he should be grateful to even be able to go for a jog and not get shot in the back for trying to run away. Which he wasn't doing. "Hello stranger." Mike spoke quietly, his voice even, a bit gravelly, not the most pleasant voice to listen to constantly, cultivated from years of raising his voice over the yells of a battlefield. He said nothing else, merely stood there.

Someone should send for the administration, he was sure Teddy would love to sink his claws into this fit looking man. Corrupting whatever he could grab. He watched as some random Badlander scurried off, like a rat to go inform Teddy of the newcomer to their shores, eyebrow raised, he waited in stern silence.

From where he’d been sat on his deck, he left behind a small group of guests social smoking and drinking as he stepped out onto the beach. Despite the chill of the late evening, Teddy still flaunted a crisp white, barely buttoned cabana shirt and sunglasses perched on his head, taking each barefooted step in a nonchalant and casual manner as he approached the group next to the beached sailboat.

He stopped for a moment, squinting in the darkness at the sailboat before looking towards the newcomer. ❝ That’s a nice boat. ❞ He pointed out, barely acknowledging Mike as he passed the older man to near the newcomer. ❝ You’re in Badlands territory. What d’ya want? ❞ He would be blunt, especially tonight considering he had company waiting for him back at his hotel suite.

Two figures were quick to approach, and of course Jin was vigilant. In unfamiliar territory, one could never be too cautious around strangers. They looked rough around the edges, like the gangsters he used to work for. This begins to put Jin on edge and he wonders if he's in the right place after all.

At least the man's greeting isn't blunt. Back where he came from, a trespasser would get bossed around and possibly jumped. Jin blinks and utters, "This is... the Badlands, correct?" If so, he would be surprised. Jin had been asleep for a while, so he had not been expecting to find the aforementioned group so easily.

Then, somebody else comes along. This man certainly possesses swagger; his strut and his demeanor reek of confidence. Jin takes note of this. "That's a nice boat." In response, he quietly says, "... Thank you." Unfortunately, the boat wasn't technically his.

After it is confirmed that he had indeed landed in the Badlands, Jin lifts his head and proclaims his business, "I wish to join, if you'll have me." Quick and straight to the point. He was exhausted from travel and didn't want to chit-chat, and he's sure that these folks didn't desire to do so either.

Nightfall brought serene coastal waters, chilled air, and a calm atmosphere that descended over the beachside settlements. Unless one had been at the shoreline, it would be difficult to tell that a small sailboat had ended up beaching in the sand.

The abrupt jolt of running ashore awoke a groggy Jin, his dark eyes sunken and worn from battling the harsh midday sun and the salty sea breeze. Manning a boat wasn't an easy task, especially when you were the only one onboard. Never would he have thought that he could successfully sail down the coast of the continent; he hadn't come from too far away — only about a hundred miles ( a whole day's worth of sailing ). Had Jin been planning to end his journey here? Not exactly, but the ship had gained a mind of its own while he was dozing off. It had been a long day and a half or so; his departure had been rather... secretive.

He pushes strands of black hair out of his eye — it tends to do that when he doesn't mess with it for a while ( he also mentally notes that he needs a trim ). Jin, barefoot and dressed a bit shabbily in worn joggers and a plain tee, ducks out of his little " cave " which is the compartment below deck. He stands, cold and salty air settling all around him and on his skin. A light breeze accompanies it — it's cold out, but Jin doesn't care. He's landed.

The man hops off the side of the sailboat and onto land, toes engulfed by the sandy particles. Jin takes a breath and exhales, gaze flickering to the scape of the city before him. He sees a few flickering lights in the windows and immediately feels a twinge of anxiousness nag at him. Jin has been searching for a settlement, but was this even the right one? What if they were just more assholes to deal with?
